Below are examples of members' latest work from the various class that make up the Sefton Art Group.
Over the next few months, I want to feature a painting from each member of the Sefton Art Group.
It does not have to be a 'collage' piece of work. It can be a watercolour, acrylic, drawing or whatever. It's an opportunityh to give your work more exposure. You can pass on this webpage to friends, or whoever you would like to show your work to. So if you have an image you would like displayed here, let me know in class...

Following on from working semi-abstract (September to Christmas), you might consider continuing but taking it a stage further and incorparating 'COLLAGE WORK'. Over the next few weeks, and possibly months leading up to Easter. Remember, there are no real rules when working this way. In fact, it gives you enormous freedom to select any subject. As when working semi-abstract, you are not simply reliant on faithfully copying the subject you are working from, rather you follow your own impluses, instinct and interpretation. This allows you wonderful freedom to do Your own thing!.


Yes, you will be eased into it gently, but you will hopefully enjoy it. As you discovered when working semi-abstract, it will again broaden your artistic horizons..

Look at my attempt below and try to follow the same process. Also, below, examples of the artist's work I've chosen to inspire you.


Remember: you need to start off by keeping everything simple; taking more chances as you become more experienced.

I've used acrylic paint on this occasion, but you can choose your own media: watercolour and ink works just as well. Also Brusho. Again, you can paint on avariety of surfaces: paper, canvas, hardboard, MDF and so on.

Materials I used, with the emphasis on keeping it uncomplicated.


. I used lining paper, taped to a board. (once I start to consider a finished piece to exhibit,
might use mount-board).

. Gathered newspapers, magazines, or any other source of newsprint. Why not use Christmas cards sent to you this year, including the one I sent you?

. Coloured card.

. PVA glue. Card, to use as a spreader.

. For my attempt, I used acrylic paint and ink, and twigs for drawing lines towards the end of the process.

. Clear varnish, to protect the painting.
